NDT Training Center provides practical training and certification support for inspectors, companies and trainees working with non-destructive testing methods.

VTVisual Testing

VT — Visual Testing

Visual Testing is the basic and most immediate NDT method used at the beginning of technical inspection and condition assessment.

It is used to detect visible surface defects such as cracks, pores, undercuts, mechanical damage, corrosion marks and geometric imperfections of parts, assemblies and welded joints.

Application: suitable for metals, plastics, composites and most industrial or construction structures.

Standards: EN 13018, EN ISO 17637, EN ISO 5817, EN ISO 10042.

PTPenetrant Testing

PT — Penetrant Testing

Penetrant Testing is a highly sensitive method for detecting surface-breaking discontinuities in non-porous materials.

The method is based on capillary penetration of special indicator liquids into small defects, followed by development of a visible indication.

Application: welds, castings, forged parts and components with complex geometry. Suitable for metals, alloys, glass, ceramics and plastics.

Standards: EN ISO 3452 series, EN ISO 23277, EN 10228-2.

PT — Penetrant Testing

MTMagnetic Testing

MT — Magnetic Particle Testing

Magnetic Particle Testing is one of the main methods for inspection of welded joints, castings and steel structures.

It detects surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials by using magnetic leakage fields and magnetic particles.

Application: carbon steels, cast iron and other ferromagnetic materials. Not applicable to aluminium, copper alloys or austenitic stainless steels.

Standards: EN ISO 9934 series, ISO 17638, EN ISO 23278, EN 10228-1.

MT — Magnetic Particle Testing

UTUltrasonic Testing

UT — Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing is one of the most widely used NDT methods for detecting hidden internal defects through the full thickness of material.

The method uses high-frequency ultrasonic waves that penetrate into the material and reflect from internal discontinuities such as cracks, lack of fusion, pores, slag inclusions or laminations.

Application: welded joints, plates, forgings, castings, pipes and metal structures.

Standards: EN ISO 16810, EN ISO 17640, EN ISO 11666, ISO 13588, ISO 10863.

UT — Ultrasonic Testing

UTTUltrasonic Thickness Testing

UTT / UTM — Ultrasonic Thickness Testing

Ultrasonic Thickness Testing is a specialised ultrasonic method used for accurate wall thickness measurement and assessment of remaining material thickness.

It helps to detect local or general thinning caused by corrosion, erosion or cavitation and is widely used for remaining life assessment.

Application: pipelines, tanks, pressure vessels, ship hull structures, industrial equipment and metal structures.

Standard: EN ISO 16809.

UTT / UTM — Thickness Testing

ETEddy Current Testing

ET — Eddy Current Testing

Eddy Current Testing is a high-speed NDT method used for inspection of surface and near-surface layers of electrically conductive materials.

The method detects cracks, cavities and other discontinuities by analysing changes in the electromagnetic field generated by eddy currents.

Application: aircraft components, shipbuilding, machinery, turbine blades, rotors, threaded connections, welds and heat exchanger tubes.

Standards: EN ISO 15548 series, ISO 17643.
